Christmas Highlights

Well, I'm back from a wonderful vacation in the great state of Pennsylvania. Even though my basic life responsiblities were the same (taking care of Madeline), it was such a refreshing break. Madeline loved having so many new things to explore and so many people to play with. She perfected the ultimate cheesy grin, ran laps around Grandma's house, went sledding for the first time, threw plenty of wrapping paper, and tasted dog food. All in all, I would say it was a successful first Christmas for Maddycakes! Here are just a few highlights:

There was tons of snow when we arrived in PA, which is apparently unusual for December. It all melted within a week, but it was beautiful while it lasted and Madeline had a great time sledding. She simply loves to be outside.

This next one is from Christmas morning. Somehow we arranged ourselves so that M. and I look very small next to Dave. Madeline was a bit tired at this point because she had stayed up too late the night before, but she had a fun time that morning.

Last Tuesday we took a scenic tour of Lancaster County via the Strasburg Railroad. Madeline loved it! She spent most of the trip with her face pressed up against the window saying, "Ooh!" That's how you know she really likes something these days. I think she would be happy if we ditched the carseat and traveled exclusively by train.

I just think this next picture is funny because it was the first time that Madeline ever clung to my leg, something I used to do all the time as a little girl. I like that she likes me. And other than the leg bit, Madeline doesn't act shy at all. She's super social and actually gets really hyper when she's around new people.

Here she is flashing that cheesy grin with Dave's mom. These two had so much fun together.

And I had to include a picture of Madeline with their dog, George. She LOVES animals, especially dogs, and was pumped to have a real one in the house. George was a bit uneasy around her because he isn't used to babies, but Madeline was very enthusiastic about poking his spots and patting his back.

Like I said, a successful Christmas all around!

I love that smile on the pic with Dave's mom!! She's grown up since swimming lessons--time to get together again!

I love the cheesy grin!

And if Dave's from the midwest/east-ish area of the US, does that mean you guys will end up back there?

I'm always looking for more people to "join" me on the east coast. It makes me feel part of a bigger sorority of westerners going east. I'd say it's SO cool to live out here, but basically I'm a westerner.

What sexy legs:). And Maddie is beautiful. I thought at first that she looked so much like Dave and now I think she looks so much like you. Hard to know. And I can't believe your mornign routine with the nebulizer and other thing take an hour. You rock. How are things going in your academic and professional life? What are you and Dave planning as the next steps?
