My Little Mandolin

Love this girl.

Love this baby.
They seem to like each other, too. Madeline runs to help the moment she hears Violet crying. The other day I heard Violet fuss and by the time I got there, Madeline was already on her tummy talking to her. Madeline looked up at me and said, "Baby Sis don't need Mommy because Baby Sis have Manny." And I suppose it's true (for that purpose, anyway), because Violet had already stopped crying and was just smiling at Madeline.

But perhaps I've never mentioned that Madeline calls herself Manny. She's done that for about 8 months now, and it cracks me up. We pretty much never call her Maddie, so it has nothing to do with that nickname at all. Manny just came out of the blue. A few days ago she suddenly starting laughing and laughing and proudly said, "I learned to say something!"

When I asked her what she learned to say, she replied, "Man-de-line. Man-de-line." Who knows why she suddenly decided to attempt her actual name, but it's pretty cute. And her rendition of her name is only fitting given that our home teacher once prayed for "Mandolin" when he came to visit.

That is so cute. Man, I totally thought about inviting you over sometime after the reunion since I knew you'd be in town a few more days, too but just didn't do it. Darn! I'd sure like to meet Madeline (and Violet of course). Some time we'll have to coordinate another visit when we're both in Preston. :)

This is hilarious. Kids say the funniest things. My nephew JOnas (age two) calls his mom "Mamy" (pronounced May-mee). We thinks it's a combo of mom and amy---but who knows. It would be fun to get inside their little minds.
